Vol. 530 No. 6

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

David Stanton

Ceist:

300 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if there is an upper age limit regarding acceptance under the shared ownership scheme as operated by local authorities; the way in which older people can avail of the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4695/01]

No age limits have been set by my Department for the shared ownership scheme. The administration of the scheme is a matter for local authorities and they must decide on each application having regard, inter alia, to the ability of the individual applicant to meet the necessary mortgage and rent repayments.
