Vol. 530 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

423 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will grant approval for an extension to a school (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4630/01]

My Department has recently received a completed application form for grant assistance from the authorities of the school referred to by the Deputy.

This is one of more than 700 applications received in the building unit for grant assistance. There are currently more than 300 major projects in architectural planning at primary level. Major projects in this context are those of an estimated value of £250,000 or more. In addition, there are approximately 400 applications being processed which have not gone to architectural planning.

All of these applications are being dealt with as quickly as possible having regard to the priority to be afforded to such projects and the annual financial allocation available for building projects.

The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.

Seymour Crawford

Ceist:

424 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Education and Science the position with regard to the provision of the new school for Clontibret primary school, Clontribret, County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4693/01]

The property management section of the Office of Public Works, which is acting on behalf of my Department in relation to site acquisitions generally, has been requested to acquire a site for Clontibret primary school, Clontibret, County Monaghan.

My Department will be in contact with the school authorities as soon as the acquisition has been finalised.
