Ceist:

189 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of unestablished civil servants employed by him in his office; the number within his Department; the salary scale, conditions, terms of employment and function in each case; the names of the persons or firms so employed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5332/01]

Excluding my office and that of the Minister of State there are almost 1,100 unestablished staff in my Department and its associated agencies some of whom are permanent civil servants recruited through the Civil Service and Local Appointments Commission.

In so far as my office and the office of the Minister of State is concerned, the position is that there are a number of temporary unestablished staff whose appointments will cease when either I or the Minister of State vacate office. I assume that the Deputy is referring to these appointments and the information required is set out in the following table:
