I propose to take Questions Nos. 156 to 160, inclusive, together.
The following table indicates those measures and their indicative public funding allocations under the national development plan for which my Department and State agencies under its aegis have responsibility. Details of personnel within my Department involved in the implementation of the plan are given at the foot of the table. The majority of these measures are being implemented and I expect to launch the remainder shortly. As the measures consist mainly of demand-led schemes, it is not possible at this stage to state the number of projects that will be assisted under them.
As the table indicates, the measures comprise either part of the CAP rural development plan or one or more operational programmes. That plan and those programmes have monitoring committees which include relevant social partners and interest groups. Through prior consultation on the measures and participation in the monitoring process, my Department has and will continue to have regular contact or consultation with some 26 statutory and non-statutory groups.
Within the European Commission, the Directorate General for Agriculture has responsibility for monitoring the implementation of the agriculture, food, and related rural development measures of the national development plan. The senior EU official involved is Mr. A. Korakas, Director – Directorate F11, Rural Development 11. Since the publication of the plan, my Department has had six meetings with relevant EU officials.
The indicative allocation for public-private partnerships in the national development plan does not concern measures in the agriculture, food and related rural development areas. My Department has not identified any such potential possibilities.
As required by EU legislation, a firm of consultants was engaged to undertake anex-ante evaluation of the CAP rural development plan at a total cost of £19,965. Apart from that, my Department has not engaged consultants to assist with the design or implementation of those aspects of the NDP falling within its responsibility.
