Vol. 531 No. 3

Written Answers. - Administrative Individualisation.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

52 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if he will report on the progress of the working group on administrative individualisation. [5754/01]

The working group to which the Deputy refers was set up under the terms of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness to produce proposals to progress the implementation of administrative individualisation within the social welfare system. The working group is chaired by an officer of my Department and comprises representatives of the social partners, the Department of Finance and my Department.

The working group had its first meeting in October 2000 and has met on three occasions. The group's discussions to date have identified a number of issues requiring detailed and careful examination in my Department. The work in this regard is well in hand and when it is completed the working group will convene again. Progress on administrative individualisation will be pursued in the light of the working group's proposals which I look forward to receiving in due course.
