Vol. 531 No. 4

Written Answers. - Beef Exports.

Michael Finucane

Ceist:

129 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will quantify the cost to his Department as a result of an occurrence with regard to a vessel (details supplied) which set sail from Foynes Port, County Limerick, to Port Said, Egypt, on 23 December 2000 with a cargo of 3,800 tonnes of boxed meat and, following the discharge of 300 tonnes, was obliged to return with the bulk of the cargo which was discharged in Waterford Port; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6167/01]

With the exception of staff costs related to administrative work arising and the supervision of the returned beef from Egypt, there are no costs involved as far as the Department is concerned.
