232 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason an application for the young farmer installation scheme by a person (details supplied) in County Galway was not processed by the regional inspector in the Galway office; and if compensation will be proposed to the person for the delay. [7701/01]

Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (Mr. Walsh):

An application under the scheme of installation aid 1994 to 1997 was not received in Teagasc until September 1999, some two years after that scheme was suspended. The Department informed Teagasc that the application could not be processed. As the applicant is ineligible for installation aid the issue of compensation does not arise.
