382 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children when the construction of the new operating theatres at Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe, County Galway, was completed; the reason for the delay in opening the new theatres; when they will be opened; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Building work on the new theatres at Portiuncula Hospital was completed in November 1999. Equipping of the theatres is continuing. In addition, ancillary works need to be carried out in the hospital before the theatres can become operational. I have provided additional revenue funding to Portiuncula Hospital in the hospital's letter of determination for expenditure in 2001 to allow for the theatres to become operational this year.
