454 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the level of funding provided to each local authority for the various categories of roads, including local improvement schemes for 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8266/01]

The 2001 non-national road grants have been allocated from a record provision of over £319 million, an increase of over 21% on the initial 2000 allocations of nearly £263 million and an 82% increase on the 1997 allocation of £174.8 million.

Details of the non-national road grant allocations to local authorities under each individual category are included in a volume Non-National Road Grant Allocations, 2001, which is available in the Oireachtas Library. A table setting out recently announced 2001 allocations under the local improvements scheme follows:
