Vol. 533 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Investigations.

John Gormley

Ceist:

130 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, in the case of an investigation (details supplied), he will outline the reason the investigating garda was not given resources until now to visit a society in England and a person in Scotland to complete the investigation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8339/01]

I am assured by the Garda authorities that there was no question of resources being unavailable in the case referred to by the Deputy and that such a situation was not indicated to the complainant. I am informed by the Garda authorities that arrangements are being made to interview a person in Scotland, which owing to this person's work commitments, cannot take place before 2 April 2001.
