136 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will make grant aid available under national lottery funding to a group (details supplied) in County Kerry for the provision of sports equipment for their community centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The sports capital programme for 2001 was advertised in mid December 2000 with a closing date of 9 February 2001 for the receipt of completed applications. My Department received in excess of 1,450 applications before the closing date but did not receive one from the organisation named by the Deputy.
The 2002 sports capital programme will be advertised in the national media before the end of this year and it will be open to the organisation to submit an application for that programme, if it so wishes.
