Vol. 533 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Pay.

Seamus Kirk

Ceist:

283 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the overtime payment arrangements for gardaí involved with the foot and mouth preventative measures in Border areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8950/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that claims for all temporary allowances – including overtime – payable for duty performed in a duty roster period during which a member is transferred to a Border area are to be entered in one claim for the member's permanent home district. In the case of a member on temporary transfer and who commences an unbroken roster period in a Border area, claims for temporary allowances – including overtime – are to be included in returns entered from the member's temporary district where the duty is performed.

I am further informed that each divisional officer has been issued with instructions in the above regard.
