Approximately 915,000 of the 1.2 million households were owner occupied according to the results of the quarterly national household survey for the third quarter of 1998. The most recent urban-rural breakdown is that derived from the 1991 census which indicated that 52.7% of owner occupied dwellings were in urban areas.
