30 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the person with political responsibility within his Department for the food sector previously held by the former Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, Deputy O'Keeffe; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the following work areas connected to the food industry will be delegated to the Minister of State, Deputy Davern; development of the food industry; monitoring the implementation of the food measures under the national development plan; local slaughter houses; horticulture-plant and health-organic production. Arrangements are being made for the making of orders by the Government delegating the relevant statutory functions to the Minister of State.
