Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - Nursing Home Subventions.

Joe Higgins

Ceist:

241 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason the South Western Area Health Board is stating it has no further funds for nursing homes subvention; and if he will make more funds available to meet the outstanding need. [9546/01]

An additional £2.262 million was provided for the Eastern Regional Health Authority in 2001 to meet an increase of 25% in the rates of nursing home subvention, effective from 1 April 2001.

As the provision of health services in the South Western Area Health Board is a matter for the ERHA, I have asked the regional chief executive of the ERHA to investigate the matter and reply directly to Deputy Higgins.
