Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Pat Rabbitte

Ceist:

367 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reasons for the minimal progress on the decision of 1997 to accord divisional status to the Tallaght Garda region in particular as it relates to manpower; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9492/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities, which are responsible for the detailed allocation of personnel and resources to individual areas, that a brief of requirements has been completed to provide an extension to bring Tallaght up to divisional headquarters status.

A sketch scheme is awaited from the Office of Public Works. The proposed upgrading of Tallaght Garda station to divisional status will involve the transfer of the administrative functions of the division from Crumlin station and will have a minimal effect on the allocation of personnel within the division.
