Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Seán Ryan – the situation regarding the orthodontic service within the Eastern Regional Health Authority area; (2) Deputy O'Shea – the implications for the future of the post office network of the Flynn report; (3) Deputy Gerard Reynolds – the need to prioritise the provision of a closed circuit television system for Sligo; (4) Deputy Allen – the consequences of the administration of the drug Diethylstilbestrol to hundreds of women in Ireland after it was withdrawn from use by the Food and Drug Administration in the United States; (5) Deputy Broughan – the need to abolish the county and city manager system in view of recent allegations of the manifest failure of this type of administration; (6) Deputy Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny)– the unsatisfactory reply to Parliamentary Question No. 152 of 3 April 2001 in relation to an Army deafness claim which originated in 1987; (7) Deputy Creed – the need to investigate the circumstances regarding the accommodation of a person (details supplied) in Trinity House, Lusk, County Dublin; (8) Deputy Flanagan – to raise with the Minister for Finance the need to persuade the banking industries to abandon a recently introduced practice of refusing to cash third party cheques particularly Government and public sector payments and pension cheques causing widespread inconvenience to a large number of persons and their families.

The matters raised by Deputies Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny), Ryan, Allen and Gerard Reynolds have been selected for discussion.
