184 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the total funding available to An Chomhairle Ealaíon over the past five years; the likely funding in the years ahead; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10865/01]
Over the past five years An Chomhairle Ealaíon has received a total of £146.9 million. This includes the £100 million sought by An Chomhairle for the implementation of the second Arts Plan 1999-2001. The funding breakdown is as follows: £20.8 million, £26.1 million, £28 million, £35.5 million and £36.5 million.
Since I came into office in 1997 funding for An Chomhairle Ealaíon has increased by over 75%. This increase in funding underlines my commitment to the arts and I will continue to make the best possible case for funding An Chomhairle in the future.
