Vol. 534 No. 4

Written Answers - Garda Stations.

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

207 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 196 of 4 April 2001, he will outline the reason for the delay in deciding the status of the proposed new Garda station in Ballymun; and if he will undertake to expedite this matter in view of the fact that the site identified for the new station will not remain available for much longer and delays in this process is interfering with the regeneration proposals for the area. [10910/01]

Proposals from the Garda authorities regarding the status of a new Garda station in Ballymun were received on 31 January 2001.

The proposals are currently receiving consideration and a decision on the matter will be made as soon as possible.

Ceist:

208 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the criteria used to determine which Garda stations are replaced or upgraded; if a priority list for station accommodation exists; and, if so, the details of that list. [10911/01]

All Garda accommodation is continually under review to ensure that it meets the operational requirements of the Garda Síochána. Where it does not, then the required refurbishment or construction works are completed by the Office of Public Works with all due urgency, and in accordance with overall priorities within the Garda building programme and the availability of financial and other resources.

Question No. 209 answered with Question No. 204.
