Vol. 534 No. 4

Written Answers - National Monuments Act.

Derek McDowell

Ceist:

40 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the progress made to date in the review of the National Monuments Acts, 1930 to 1994; when it is expected that the consolidated national monuments Bill will be produced; when she expects to publish the issues document which was promised for January 2001; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10704/01]

I wish to refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 33 of 21 February 2001. The position in relation to the matters raised by the Deputy continues to be as outlined in the reply to that question.

I would like to add, for the Deputy's information, that it appears at present that the draft heads of the Bill for the new consolidated, revised and extended legislation is likely to comprise 14 parts and up to 80 heads.
