Vol. 534 No. 5

Written Answers - Garda Stations.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

44 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding the provision of a new Garda station at Castleisland, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10849/01]

As indicated to the Dáil, on the Adjournment on 21 March last, in the long term a new station is required in Castleisland and my Department and the Garda are in consultation in that regard. While I cannot give an indication at this time as to when construction of a new station in Castleisland will commence, I can assure the Deputy that this matter will be progressed with all due urgency and in accordance with overall priorities within the Garda building programme and the availability of financial and other resources. In the meantime, arrangements are being concluded by the Office of Public Works to relocate the station party to more suitable, temporary, accommodation nearby in the town.
