Vol. 535 No. 1

Written Answers - Local Authority Housing.

Paul McGrath

Ceist:

429 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if money has been made available to Westmeath County Council to upgrade a number of houses in Ennell Court, Patrick Street, Mullingar, County Westmeath, by way of a pilot scheme; the amount of money sanctioned for this work; the time frame for these works to be carried out; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12142/01]

Westmeath County Council's proposals for carrying out works to their dwellings at Ennell Court, Mullingar, were designated for funding under my Department's remedial works scheme and approval issued to the undertaking of a pilot phase of the project In November 2000. The planning and carrying out of the remedial works is the responsibility of the local authority and, in this context, technical and cost documentation for this pilot project is awaited from the council. Capital allocations to fund the remedial works scheme in 2001 are currently being determined in my Department and will be notified to local authorities as soon as possible.
