Vol. 535 No. 1

Written Answers - Crime Prevention.

Ceist:

508 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the publications his Department distributes to aid in the prevention of crime; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11531/01]

While my Department does not distribute crime prevention literature, I am informed by the Garda authorities that the following publications are available at Garda stations: Retails Security booklet; Security at Credit Unions; Cash Security; Child Safety; Women's Safety; Safety for the Older Person; Guidelines for the Security of Jeweller's Premises; Action to be taken in the event of Armed Hold-up; Advice on Bomb Threats; Neighbourhood Watch booklet; Business Watch booklet, currently being reprinted.

In addition, I understand that documentation is also available from the National Bureau of Crime Investigations in relation to the Crimestoppers programme. Finally, a publication entitled, Fraud Alert, which provides useful advice on how to prevent and detect fraud in organisations is available from the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation, Harcourt Square, Harcourt Street, Dublin 2.
