Vol. 536 No. 1

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Perry – the need to make funding available for the conservation of the O'Hara carriages, which were gifted to the State in 1952 and are in storage in the National Museum's facility in Inchicore as they are to be returned to their home region and will be a focal point in a transport museum in County Sligo; (2) Deputy Deenihan – the need to provide the necessary funding by the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform to enable the families of the Dublin-Monaghan bombings victims to establish a family service support centre for bereaved relatives under the guidance of a suitably qualified programme director; (3) Deputy Crawford – the need to indicate when farm to farm sales of livestock may recommence and for intervention in the work to rule by staff at district veterinary offices who are refusing to deal with movement permit forms; (4) Deputy Gay Mitchell – the unacceptability of provisions of the new tax credit code, where full tax credits cannot be transferred between spouses in certain cases because of the cut-off point; (5) Deputy Finucane – wishes the Minister to outline the measures which he is putting in place to ensure a fair education system is put in place to cope with the primary schools difficulties in Rathkeale, County Limerick to cater for the settled community, the Traveller settled community and the transient Traveller community and make a comprehensive statement on the matter; (6) Deputy Ulick Burke – the urgent need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development to clarify the grant aid provided by his Department through Bórd na gCon to Galway greyhound track so that planned refurbishment and upgrading be allowed to start based on the announced funding of £6 million and if he will make a statement on the matter; (7) Deputy Hayes – the need for the Minister for Education and Science to urgently introduce a special package of measures to help schools in disadvantaged areas keep and attract teachers, and recognising the fact that such schools are finding it increasingly difficult to fill existing vacancies with qualified teachers, that the Minister bring forward such a package at the earliest possible time; (8) Deputy Sargent – the need to clarify whether the recent award of a pay increase to residential child care workers applies to child care workers who are dealing with children with intellectual disabilities; (9) Deputy Gerry Reynolds – the need for Our Lady's Primary School in Sligo to retain a second teaching post under the urban cycle of disadvantage scheme; and (10) Deputy Fitzgerald – the urgent need for the Government to immediately launch a public awareness anti-racism campaign.

The matters raised by Deputies Gerard Reynolds, Crawford, Sargent and Fitzgerald have been selected for discussion.
