72 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence his plans for the disposal of McGee Barracks, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13802/01]

105 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence if he is satisfied with the position in McGee Barracks, County Kildare, in relation to the site which is leased to Kildare County Council; if his Department has met the council to discuss the unaffected areas of the barracks; if not, when it is intended that such a meeting will take place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose taking Questions Nos. 72 and 105 together.

I am currently considering the future use of McGee Barracks. At present a portion of the barracks is used to accommodate asylum seekers. An area of approximately one acre—

An area of approximately one acre has been made available to Kildare County Council to provide a temporary halting site for members of the Traveller community. My considerations will involve consultations with all relevant State and local authority interests, including the local community. I intend to meet the local authority and other interested groups in the near future.
