Vol. 536 No. 2

Written Answers - Hospital Services.

Brendan Daly

Ceist:

278 Mr. Daly asked the Minister for Health and Children the proposals he has for the development of the acute services in Ennis General Hospital, County Clare; the project team's recommendations to date; the next steps of the process; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13599/01]

Tony Killeen

Ceist:

317 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Health and Children if the draft report of the project team on Ennis General Hospital has been received by him; if he will publish the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14101/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 278 and 317 together.

The provision of services to patients in Ennis General Hospital is the responsibility of the Mid-Western Health Board. As the Deputy will be aware, I have approved the establishment of a project team to prepare detailed briefs for identified priority developments at the hospital.
The board has recently circulated a number of documents, which assess the needs of the hospital and outline the proposed functional content of the new development relative to the existing hospital site and its role in providing acute hospital services in the Mid-Western Health Board area. These documents are being examined by the project team, with a view to agreeing the scope of the new development brief.
