Vol. 536 No. 2

Written Answers - Parent and Toddler Group.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

316 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Health and Children if he is in a position to respond positively to the application to his Department for funding for the parent and toddler group and active age group for Kilkelly, County Mayo. [14027/01]

Funding for voluntary and community organisations is mainly provided through the health boards. Organisations may apply directly to their local health board for funding or apply to my Department for lottery funding. There is no record in my Department of an application for funding for a parent and toddler group or an active age group in Kilkelly, County Mayo. I have made inquiries of the Western Health Board and I understand that a standard grant of £150 has been approved for a parent and toddler group based in the Community Centre, Kilkelly, County Mayo. I understand that the only other applications for funding which the board is aware of are from Kilkelly Active Age and Kilkelly Day Care Social Services. These are being considered by the board at present.

Question No. 317 answered with Question No. 278.
