Vol. 536 No. 2

Written Answers - Asylum Applications.

David Stanton

Ceist:

411 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 363 of 28 November 2000, he will outline the status of the short-term contract entered into by the Directorate for Asylum Support Services with regard to Rushbrooke Hotel, Cobh, County Cork; the expenditure incurred or committed by the State in this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14105/01]

The Directorate for Asylum Support Services, now the Reception and Integration Agency, RIA, entered into a short-term contract from 4 December 2000 for the provision of full board accommodation for asylum seekers at the Rushbrooke Hotel, Cobh, County Cork. The RIA has decided not to proceed with the contract for services for the premises in question. No expenditure has been committed or incurred by the State in respect of this property.
