Vol. 536 No. 2

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Gerry Reynolds

Ceist:

479 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Education and Science when a decision will be made regarding the management structure of a new secondary school in Mohill, County Leitrim; and if funding will be made available to commence building works in 2001. [13945/01]

Following a comprehensive consultative process, there is now general agreement in Mohill on the need to amalgamate the two second level schools in the town, Marian College secondary school and Mohill vocational school. Agreement has not been reached on a management model for the proposed school. Careful consideration is being given to this matter and a decision will be communicated to the trustees at the earliest possible date. Funding is in place for architectural planning of this project, which is already taking place. A decision on the allocation of funding for the construction of the building will be made when architectural planning has advanced further.
