The current minimum height requirements for entry of females to the Defence Forces is 162.5 cm 5 ft 4 ins. Height requirements in the Defence Forces are necessary because it has been the experience of training units that persons of shorter stature have difficulty carrying the bulk and weight of combat order equipment.
A review of entry requirements to the Defence Forces including height requirements is being undertaken by the Chief of Staff.
