Vol. 536 No. 5

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

339 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when he proposes to make allocations to applicants under the recreational amenities grant schemes. [15114/01]

The sports capital programme for 2001 was advertised in mid-December 2000 with a closing date of 9 February 2001 for the receipt of completed applications. In excess of 1,450 applications were received and these are being evaluated against the programme's assessment criteria, which are outlined in the guidelines which accompanied the application form. I intend to announce the grant allocations for the programme as soon as possible after the assessment process has been completed.

Johnny Brady

Ceist:

340 Mr. J. Brady asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will extend the date for completion of works to be carried out under grants allocated in the 2000 sports capital programme as the foot and mouth disease restrictions have led to a delay in progress being made in works being undertaken under the grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15136/01]

The 2000 round of grants under the sports capital programme operated by my Department were announced last July and the grantees still have until 28 September 2001 to submit all of the relevant documentation and to begin work on their project.
