Vol. 536 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

107 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide funding for the development of a neurology unit at Waterford Regional Hospital to facilitate patients in the region who suffer head trauma and strokes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14878/01]

The provision of services at Waterford Regional Hospital is the responsibility of the South-Eastern Health Board. This responsibility includes the identification of development requirements in hospitals within their remit, such as that described by the Deputy in his question.

I have, therefore, advised the chief executive officer at the South-Eastern Health Board of the concerns of the Deputy and have asked that he look into the matter and reply directly to him as a matter of urgency.
