Vol. 536 No. 6

Written Answers. - Argentinian Naval Equipment.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

187 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if her attention has been drawn to the fact that artefacts presented by the Argentine Government belonging to the late Admiral William Browne, founder of the Argentine navy, are currently in Dublin port; and if her Department has received details of these artefacts. [15202/01]

My Department is aware that some pieces of 20th century naval equipment apparently sent by the Argentine naval authorities as a gift in May 1999, remain in storage in Dublin port because the consignee has not paid the carriage and other charges due. The items in question were not the property of Admiral William Browne and my Department has no role in the matter.
