Vol. 537 No. 2

Written Answers. - Food and Veterinary Office.

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

178 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Finance if the European Commission was informed that the site at Derrypatrick Grange failed the SR6 91 percolation tests; and if so, when. [15824/01]

The development of the EU food and veterinary office at Grange, County Meath, has not failed percolation tests related to the requirements of NSAI SR6 1991.

Effluent at Grange will be treated to the highest tertiary standard. As part of the treatment process percolation mounds are necessary due to the fact that limestone rock is present at an average depth of 1.5 meters at the site. The percolation mounds have been constructed to meet the requirements of B.S. 6297:1983. The mounds will be fully tested, as part of the commissioning process, to ensure compliance with NSAI SR6 1991 before being brought into service later this year. The European Commission has been briefed on all such technical issues throughout this project.
