313 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the estimated compliance of the requirement to have a television licence for households which have television appliances; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15370/01]
Under the Postal and Telecommunications Act, 1983, An Post is authorised to issue licences on behalf of the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands on receipt of the appropriate fees.
According to the latest information supplied by An Post to my Department, An Post estimates the current level of evasion to be 11.5%.
