Ceist:

408 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science the energy costs incurred by his Department each year for the past three years in each of the energy sectors respectively; the use made of renewable energy; his further plans regarding same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15862/01]

The amounts expended on energy by my Department for the last three years is as follows:

2000	£285,710
1999	£276,419
1998	£293,396.

It is not possible to give a breakdown for each of the energy sectors at short notice. This will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as it is compiled. Government policy for the use of renewable energy in Departments is co-ordinated by the Office of Public Works.
