Vol. 537 No. 3

Written Answers. - Housing Aid for the Elderly.

John Perry

Ceist:

148 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children if it is necessary for a sub-contractor to have a C2 licence to carry out work under the housing aid for the elderly scheme in the North Western Health Board area; if a valid general tax clearance certificate is acceptable to enable him to receive full payment without the tax deduction; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16151/01]

As the Deputy is aware, the special housing aid scheme for the elderly in the north western area is administered by the North-Western Health Board, on behalf of the Department of the Environment and Local Government. The guidelines for the operation of the scheme are determined by a task force which is chaired by an officer of the Department of the Environment and Local Government.

I have asked the chief executive officer of the North-Western Health Board to investigate the matter of tax clearance raised and reply direct to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
