Vol. 538 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Investigations.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

211 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will request a new investigation into the first break-in at the home of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6w. [17478/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the person in question and his solicitor met by appointment with the district officer at Terenure Garda station on the 22 May 2001. I understand this person's complaint was discussed, and it was agreed that his solicitor would make further contact with this person's former employers, the Revenue Commissioners.

I am also informed that this person and his solicitor were assured of Garda assistance and co-operation in dealing with his complaint. A further meeting with the district officer will be arranged when certain facts have been ascertained by his solicitor. In the circumstances, I feel that the current Garda response to the matter is the most appropriate.
