70 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the progress made on a REP scheme appeal by a person (details supplied); when a decision will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17533/01]
The person named lodged an appeal against a penalty imposed on his rural environment protection scheme, REPS, payment with my Department's REPS appeals committee in April 2001. The appeals committee has increased the frequency of its meetings so as to speed up the processing of appeals, and I am informed that it may be possible for this appeal to be considered during July. When the appeals committee has taken its final decision, the person named will be notified of the outcome directly in writing.
