Vol. 538 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

309 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide a report on the extension of a national school (details supplied) in County Tipperary; if the cost of these works is to be £178,000; if this will require the school to raise £17,800 towards the costs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17752/01]

A project to refurbish and extend the school referred to by the Deputy is currently in construction.

The local contribution in this case is 10% of the capital cost, subject to a maximum of £25,000.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

310 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will approve stage 2 of an application to his Department in respect of a school (details supplied) in County Mayo. [17753/01]

The stage 2 submission in connection with the building project at the school referred to by the Deputy was received by my Department earlier this month.

My Department will make every effort to complete its examination of the submission and revert to the school authority as quickly as possible. As this project entails making a very substantial capital investment in the school premises, a thorough examination of the submission is necessary.

Ceist:

311 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science when a school (details supplied) in Dublin 6W will receive the grants for work already approved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17758/01]

My Department has received an application from the authorities of the school referred to by the Deputy for grant aid towards improvement works.

The application is being dealt with as quickly as possible having regard to the large number of such projects being processed at present by my Department's building unit.
