Written Answers. - Special Savings Incentive Scheme.

135 Mr. Fleming asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the new facilities for the new special savings incentive scheme are not available in all post offices; and if she will contact An Post and request them to ensure that this new Government initiative is evenly available throughout their network and not confined to the larger offices to the disadvantage of the smaller post offices; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the situation as outlined by the Deputy. An official of my Department has recently had a meeting with the Irish Postal Union to discuss the difficulties presented by the failure of the company to operate the scheme at all outlets. Further discussions on the matter are scheduled for the near future and the Deputy may be assured that my Department will continue to follow up on these matters with the company.
