131 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will rescind the decision made on the application submitted by south Sligo summer school, Tubbercurry, County Sligo, for summer career development courses for primary teachers; if he will grant the necessary approval; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this course is vital for the continuation of the summer school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The proposal for the course in question was not approved by my Department as it was considered that it would not contribute sufficiently to the development of the professional pedagogic and management skills of the teachers participating.

It would be open to those proposing to run the course to submit a revised proposal for consideration next year if they so wish. This could be discussed with my Department in advance, if necessary.
