Vol. 538 No. 4

Written Answers. - Sleeping Accommodation.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

98 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the regulations which govern the provision of sleeping places, air space and the minimum area which is required per individual in sleeping accommodation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18265/01]

The statutory provisions concerning sleeping places, air space and the minimum area which is required per individual in sleeping accommodation are covered in section 63 of the Housing Act, 1966, which defines overcrowding in sleeping accommodation. It stipulates that each person should have, as a minimum, four hundred cubic feet of airspace in a sleeping room.
