Vol. 539 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

83 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if it is proposed to make a payment of an area aid suckler cow and cattle headage to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo who was ill during 2000. [19122/01]

The application under the 2000 cattle headage scheme and the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme of the person named was received in my Department on 13 July 2000. As this was after the final closing date of 25 June 2000 his application was ineligible. He was written to on 6 October 2000 and advised that no premium or grants could be paid on the claimed animals. He was given an opportunity to have this decision reviewed.

After further correspondence he submitted a medical certificate on 2 April 2001. This appeal was acceptable and the claim was put forward for processing. During processing it was found that one animal was not registered.

This animal will be rejected from the claim with reduction penalty on the other animals.

Payment will issue to the person named in the next two weeks.
