Vol. 540 No. 1

Written Answers. - Foot and Mouth Legislation.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

203 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the criteria which must be met by dealers, purchasers and sellers of animals (details supplied) under the new Foot and Mouth Disease Act, 2001. [19762/01]

I presume the Deputy is referring to the conditions for approval and registration of dealers and dealers' premises that were introduced on foot of the recent amendment to the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 and S.I. No. 79 of 2001. A copy of the detailed conditions is being sent to the Deputy. A copy has been sent to all dealers already known to the Department and advertisements have been placed in the press inviting applications from other interested parties.
