Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Quinn – the need for authorisation to be given to Gaelscoil Lios na Nog, Ranelagh, to proceed to the next stage in the process of building a new school; (2) Deputy Sargent – the need to guarantee the quality of life of a person (details supplied) who has extensive medical needs; (3) Deputy Farrelly – the need to change regulations regarding the nursing home subvention; (4) Deputy Seán Ryan – the need for the retention of the 13th permanent post, repairs to the existing buildings and a permanent extension for St. Theresa's national school, Balbriggan, County Dublin; (5) Deputy Dukes – the need to bring into effect a provision in the Finance Bill, 2000, providing for targeted relief for the purchase of milk quota; (6) Deputy Crawford – the need to reassess the needs of An Garda Síochána in the Border region in light of the renewed threats from terrorist organisations; (7) Deputy Ring – the position on the upgrading of the railway line from Westport to Dublin; (8) Deputy Kirk – the need to address disquiet at the levels of compensation paid to depopulated farmers in the Cooley Peninsula and give urgent consideration to the serious impact on the farming industry in the area; (9) Deputy Ulick Burke – the need to confirm to the principal and board of management of La Sainte Union secondary school that their schedule of grant aided teaching posts between now and the proposed amalgamation will remain as it was for 2000-01; (10) Deputy Gerard Reynolds – his views on the current exploration for gas in the Cavan-Leitrim area and whether the Government has proposals to provide a gas turbine generator station in the region if a major find is confirmed; (11) Deputy Connaughton – the breakdown in negotiations between the Western Health Board and the owners of the Bon Secours Hospital in Tuam, County Galway, concerning the sale of the hospital and adjoining land for use as a community hospital; (12) Deputy Neville – the issue of free nursing home care to medical card holders; (13) Deputy Deenihan – the need to provide funding for the Tintéain project, Ballybunion, County Kerry; (14) Deputy Jim Higgins – the refusal by the Government to approve the acquisition by the ESB of eight electricity supply companies in the Gdansk area of Poland at a cost of £1.35 billion and the damage caused to the reputation of both Ireland and the ESB abroad; (15) Deputy Clune – the need to ensure that airport charges at Cork Airport are maintained in line with other main airports to facilitate regional development; (16) Deputy Coveney – the need to provide for a new Garda station in Carrigaline County Cork, to replace the existing inadequate station; and (17) Deputy Keaveney – the continuing decline of IDA supported companies in the north-west Donegal region.

The matters raised by Deputies Keaveney, Quinn, Jim Higgins and Farrelly have been selected for discussion.
