Vol. 540 No. 1

Written Answers. - Farm Retirement Scheme.

Paul McGrath

Ceist:

226 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the way in which entitlement to a contributory or non-contributory payment from the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs can reduce entitlement to the early farm retirement scheme where applications have been approved under the categories of joint management, joint ownership and sole ownership; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20222/01]

If an application for the early retirement scheme is approved under the joint management arrangement, only one pension may be paid on the holding under the scheme but all national retirement pensions paid to partners in joint management, including the participant in the early retirement scheme, must be offset against it.

If an application is approved under joint ownership, only national retirement pensions paid to the participant must be offset against the pension paid to him or her under the early retirement scheme.

If an application is approved on a holding in sole ownership, any national retirement pension paid to the participant must be offset against his or her pension under the early retirement scheme.
