279 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans he has to increase the grant for the transportation cost of bringing a disabled person to a workshop, which has not been increased since 1986; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19967/01]
Under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness, there is a commitment that "a review of funding of sheltered workshops will be undertaken by the Department of Health and Children". Included in this review is an examination of the current level of transport grant. The review is being undertaken in conjunction with another PPF commitment, i.e., the development of a code of practice for sheltered workshops. It is expected that both of these undertakings will be completed by the end of this year.
