Vol. 540 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Operations.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

432 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of arrests for drug related and public order offences made by the Garda at a premises (details supplied) in Dublin 1 to date in 2001; and if the Garda intend to appeal against the renewal of the licence for this venue. [19979/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that no arrests have been made at the Temple Theatre since 1 January 2001 for drug related or public order offences. I am also informed that there have been four arrests on Temple Street since 1 January 2001 for offences contrary to sections 3 and 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and that ecstasy and a small amount of cocaine were confiscated. I am further informed that there have been 37 arrests since 1 January 2001 for public order offences committed on Temple Street. I am assured by the Garda authorities that the licence for the Temple Theatre will be kept under review, as is the case for all licensed premises.
