Vol. 540 No. 1

Written Answers. - Planning Staff.

Thomas P. Broughan

Ceist:

110 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to concerns expressed by the President of the Irish Planning Institute (details supplied) that the majority of senior planning posts in local authorities are now going to engineers rather than qualified planners; his response to the concerns expressed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19707/01]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 90 of 30 May 2001.

My Department is satisfied, on the basis of such information as is available to it, that senior planning posts in local authorities are being filled by staff who properly fulfil the qualifications declared for these posts.
